The DermaSilk Intimo range is made from medical grade silk, specially treated to make it hypoallergenic, permanently bonded with an antimicrobial to combat thrush infection, and able to soak up the excess moisture which allows infections to thrive.

A recent double-blind clinical trial carried out at the University of Bologna in Italy showed that the underwear reduced the itching and redness associated with persistent and recurrent thrush infections.
The study was conducted on almost 100 patients with persistant thrush, still experiencing symptoms after six months’ anti-fungal treatment. Half these patients were given cotton briefs to wear, and half DermaSilk Intimo briefs.
At the end of the six-month period, redness had been eliminated in almost nine out of ten of the patients wearing DermaSilk briefs compared to only two out of ten of those wearing cotton briefs. Nearly nine out of ten of those wearing DermaSilk no longer suffered itching whereas only four out of ten of those wearing cotton briefs experienced relief.
A smaller study has also shown that the underwear can help with symptoms of lichen schlerosus – a chronic, recurrent condition of the skin and mucous membranes which generally affects the ano-genital region, which is more common in older women, but can affect all people, including men and boys, especially those uncircumcised. Symptoms include intense itching, burning, pain and dryness and there may be problems urinating or having sex.
