Skin Shop, specialists in making naturally effective and tailored skin care solutions for problem skin, have just announced the release of their new product for sensitive skins – Undercoat.
Described as a ‘one-stop solution to the complex and growing problem of sensitive skin’, Undercoat is a barrier cream, which boosts the skin’s tolerance to any number of skin care products you may use and which may sometimes irritate you.
The causes of sensitive skin are not precisely known, but may be due to increased permeability of the skin and an exaggeration of the nerve response, which can be affected by lifestyle factors such as smoking, alcohol, depression, stress and fatigue, as well as existing skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis and rosacea.
Sufferers may experience over-sensitive responses to temperature changes and the environment, as well as to skincare products such as moisturisers and sun creams. Symptoms can include typical allergy-like reactions like rashes, redness or itching, which can come and go.
Undercoat’s active desensitising ingredient is a tetrapeptide called Skinasensyl which has been proven to reduce the nerve response to external irritants by effectively dampening down any inflammatory reaction.
The product can be applied on its own, or at least fifteen minutes before other products, such as leave-on cosmetics or sun creams, are applied.
