The Allergy Show – a look ahead

Friday 7th June sees the opening of the Allergy and Free From Show – an essential annual fixture in the allergy, intolerance and coeliac calendar – which runs until Sunday 9th at Olympia in London. We are exhibiting on Stand 119 – alongside our ‘siblings’, Foods Matter and the FreeFrom Food Awards.

We are also announcing the winners of the annual FreeFrom Skincare Awards on 3.30pm on the Friday. Currently, only Michelle and I know the results. This surprises some people, but we absolutely do not ‘tip off’ winners – not only would it be unfair, but it spoils the fun, and denies us the spontaneous surprise and joy on winners’ faces! We don’t release winners to the media until after the event either, and, with difficulty it must be admitted, we don’t spill the beans to friends and other colleagues – the judges don’t know the results either! It really is just us … well, discounting the engraver of the trophy who has already etched the overall winner’s name into it ready to dish out on Friday!

At the stand we plan to have some samples of shortlisted creams, balms and potions for testing, and we will also have some sachets and take-away mini-samples to give away to subscribers. We have or hope to have samples from AEOS, Mary Jean, Essential Care, Green People, Barefoot, Suti, Aedos, Live Native, Dr Bronner, Kelly Edwards and perhaps others over the weekend too. Do stop by to say hello to Michelle or I and to try out some award-shortlisted and award-winning free-from skincare… We’ll have the full results on the Saturday and Sunday if that’s when you’re visiting.

And if that isn’t enough to tempt you, my colleague Cressida, on the foods ‘half’ of our stand, will have a few interesting free-from bites to sample: her ‘theme’ this year will be vending and food-to-go, and she will have a survey on how freefrom consumers view vending machines and how much they use them. Complete a form and you’ll be entered into a draw to win a hamper of vendable free-from goods!

See you at the weekend!
